Aldon Smith turns self in to police, released on $30K bond

Former Raiders and 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith turned himself in to San Francisco police Tuesday, was booked into jail and then posted bail in connection with an alleged domestic-violence attack, authorities said.

The victim claims Smith drank two bottles of tequila, threw her around the room and bit her wrists, all before jumping out of a window and fleeing.

Smith is facing misdemeanor charges of willful infliction of corporal injury, assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury, false imprisonment and vandalism, according to Sgt. Michael Andraychak.

Smith's fiancee and those close to him have expressed concern that he won't be alive much longer if he continues with his addiction and doesn't get help.

Smith left the scene before officers arrived.

Shawna McKnight, Smith's fiancee, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
