Tiger Woods to play Valspar Championship and Arnold Palmer Invitational

Tiger Woods to play Valspar Championship and Arnold Palmer Invitational

It appeared Randolph, the 266th-ranked player in the world, would have had a place in next week's Valspar Championship, but a Friday morning decision by Woods meant Randolph's spot was no more.

The commitment to Valspar, held in Florida, is somewhat surprising given that Woods, 42, has never played in the event before.

The Valspar Championships suddenly has a fairly loaded field with names like Justin Rose, Patrick Reed, Louis Oosthuizen, Rory McIlroy and Henrik Stenson in addition to Woods. He would normally get his pre-Masters work in at this week's WGC Mexico Championship or the WGC Dell Match Play at the end of March, but because his world ranking is so low, he is unable to get into those tournaments.

Turkish soldiers martyred, 13 wounded in Afrin
The latest casualties bring the number of Turkish soldiers killed since the launch of "Operation Olive Branch" to at least 40. However, in late 2014, the USA began arming the YPG as an ally on the ground under the pretext of fighting Daesh.

Though it will also be Woods first appearance in "Arnie's event" since winning for an eighth time in 2013. Though he made the cut on the number at Torrey Pines, he surmounted a Sunday charge to finish T-23 at the Farmers Insurance Open. Instead, Woods went back-to-back at the Genesis Open and Honda (cross country, no less) and now sets up a second B2B.

Having finished in a tie for 12th at last week's Honda Classic - his third start of the year - the former world No.1 had been leaving people guessing about when he might make his next start as he continues his return from injury. That was the goal when I first came back - try and get everything situated for April.

Tiger Woods has committed to playing consecutive weeks at the next two PGA Tour events in what will likely be his final tournaments ahead of the Masters.

The American has missed the Masters the past two years due to back issues, but is expected to seek his fifth Green Jacket next month.
