Instant Pot model recalled because of overheating, fire hazard

The popular multi-cookers, which can roast, stew, bake, steam and more, have had more than 100 reported malfunctions according to the Ottawa-based company, with five resulting in property damage but no reported injuries.

Instant Pot says customers who bought certain batches of one of its multicookers should stop using it immediately after some malfunction reports.

Batch codes can be found on a silver label on the bottom of the multicooker.

This model of Instant Pot was sold for about $80 at Walmart stores and Walmart's online service between August 2017 and January 2018.

Measles warning issued for Orange and Putnam counties
This becomes the cause for other visitors in that location to suffer from the situation of measles as well. One-hundred-eighty-eight people from 24 states and the District of Columbia were reported to have measles.


A recall has been issued for the Instant Pot multicooker due to a fire hazard. "Instant Pot" is printed on the front of the multicookers.

The company warned of the issue earlier in the week, but issued the recall Thursday. "This gap can cause the multicooker to overheat and melt on the underside, posing a fire hazard to consumers".
