Taliban attack leave 20 ANA soldiers killed

Noorzai said militants attacked a checkpoint in Bala Buluk district of Farah late on February 23 with the attack continuing into the morning of February 24.

The Nad Ali attack was followed by a second suicide auto bombing in the provincial capital Lashkar Gah that wounded seven people.

Early on Saturday, Taliban forces mounted an overnight attack on a base in Farah. The NDS compound is located near the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation headquarters and the U.S. embassy.

In two other attacks on Saturday in volatile southern Helmand province, suicide auto bombs killed at least two soldiers and wounded more than a dozen others, officials said.

"We will work hard with our Afghan security counterparts and teammates to help protect the civilians of Afghanistan as much as possible", he said.

A suicide attacker also injured at least eight people when he detonated a vehicle bomb in the city of Lashkar Gah, the regional capital, Helmand provincial spokesman Omar Zwak told CNN. An attack on an army outpost in the province also killed two soldiers and wounded one.

Insurgent attacks on Afghan security force facilities have intensified since the end of NATO's combat mission in 2014.
