PM Modi launches Amma two-wheeler scheme

A life-sized statue of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa was unveiled in Chennai on Saturday as part of grand celebrations to mark the 70th birth anniversary of the late AIADMK supremo.

Significantly, Modi's visit to the state comes days after Panneerselvam claiming that Prime Minister played a vital role in uniting two factions of the AIADMK after Jayalalithaa's death.

He added, "On empowering women, we empower the entire family".

More than Rs 24,000 crore worth of projects are now being implemented by the Centre in Tamil Nadu, he said, adding all these commenced after the NDA came to power.
