Alleged Canadian serial killer charged with sixth murder

In light of the recent allegations surrounding suspected serial killer Bruce McArthur, The New York Post released a feature that compared the Toronto Gay Village murders to Stephen King's "The Lawnmower Man", and the similarities are uncanny.

Police say they have identified a third set of remains that was found on a property linked to McArthur as that of missing person Skanda Navartnam.

Hank Idsinga told reporters that authorities have now identified the remains of three of the six men found in planters at a property that Bruce McArthur used as storage for his landscaping business. Idsinga also said police have now identified remains belonging to Soroush Marmudi.

He was soon charged with the murders of 50-year-old Soroush Marmudi, 58-year-old Majeed Kayhan and Dean Lisowick, a homeless prostitute thought to be in his mid-40s.

As recently as six weeks before McArthur's arrest, Toronto Police Chief Mark Saunders tried to dispel fears that a serial killer was at large.

Investigators believe there are more victims and say additional charges will likely be laid. They had previously identified the remains of Andrew Kinsman, 49, who went missing in late June 2017.

McArthur had some sort of relationship with each of his victims, some of which were sexual, Toronto Police spokeswoman Meaghan Gray said earlier this month.

Though McArthur was charged with the murder of five men, there could be many more victims.

Toronto Police have scheduled a news conference to update the media on the investigation into the 66-year-old self-employed landscaper and investigators wouldn't officially reveal any details on Thursday.

Police are also reviewing "multiple outstanding" murders, unexplained "sudden death" cases, and "hundreds of outstanding missing persons cases" going back decades for possible links to McArthur, he said. His auto was found abandoned not far from McArthur's home.

Edward Royle, a lawyer for McArthur, declined to comment on the case.

The probe was named Project Houston, a police task force looking for him and two other men who went missing between 2010 and 2012: Kayhan and Abdulbasir Faizi, 42.

Police have interviewed some of McArthur's past known associates, but Mr Idsinga said evidence unearthed so far indicates he acted alone.
