Stars represent Time's Up movement at BAFTA film awards

Director Martin McDonagh added: "What I'm most proud of, especially in this Time's Up year, is 'Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri" is a film about a woman who refuses to take any more s***'.

The US-set film also won the best British film honours, qualifying on the basis of its creative team and the companies involved in producing it, many of whom are British.

She is also one of the few actors to have the Triple Crown of Acting - Oscar for Fargo, a Tony Award for Good People and an Emmy Award for Olive Kitteridge.

McDonagh won the original screenplay prize for "Three Billboards", which also netted Sam Rockwell the supporting actor trophy.

Among the stars due to attend the London ceremony, typically a blend of gray skies and glamour, are Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Lawrence, Lupita Nyong'o, Kristin Scott Thomas and Octavia Spencer. Daniel Kaluuya, the British star of Get Out took the rising star award.

Even the Duchess of Cambridge eschewed bright colour, wearing a black ribbon belt with a dark green dress in a nod to the movement, despite the Royal family's usual protocol of avoiding any political statements.
