Arvinder Singh Lovely re-joins Congress after 9-month stint with BJP

In a boost to the Congress, former Delhi Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely, who had quit the party to join the BJP in April past year, on Saturday returned to the Congress in the presence of party President Rahul Gandhi here. After joining the BJP, Lovely had lashed out at the Congress leadership terming the party 'dead'.

Mr Lovely officially rejoined the party after he, along with Mr Maken and former city minister Haroon Yusuf, met Congress president Rahul Gandhi. "Leaving Congress was a sad decision taken during a weak moment". "Ideologically, I was a misfit in the BJP", he added. "But then after, I had a chat with Ajay Maken and sort the differences", said Arvinder Singh Lovely at the AICC headquarters in a press conference. "We welcome him to the party again". Journalist-turned-politician Pratyush Kanth, who had quit Congress to join BJP with Mr Lovely, is however unlikely to rejoin the party. "I am glad. Naturally his coming back is good for the party", the Congress leader said.

Lovely was, however, not allowed to answer a question from a reporter on what he thought of his grave charges levelled against the party and Maken when he left the BJP.
