Public health: two area children died of the flu

Seventeen new flu deaths have been reported in North Carolina since February 4, bringing the total number of deaths in the state this season to 165.

"The percentage of deaths attributed to pneumonia and influenza was 10.2 percent (last week)", according to DHEC.

The number of flu cases in DE continue to rise with health officials saying laboratory-confirmed cases hit 1,200 just this week-and they cautioned the week is far from over. New Brunswick has seen 883 reported cases, an increase of 145 cases in a week, resulting in 15 deaths.
