Tillerson urges Gulf states to resolve Qatar diplomatic dispute

US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has called for unity among Arab countries in the Gulf for the sake of regional stability and to root out the Islamic State group.

USA -backed Syrian militias continue to fight in eastern Syria, where Islamic State retains a foothold in the Euphrates River Valley, near the border with Iraq.

After that, Tillerson heads to Lebanon and then Turkey to try to shore up a relationship an increasingly strained relationshop over the US's support for Kurdish fighters in Syria.
