Clash turns up Israel-Iran heat, but neither seeks war

Clash turns up Israel-Iran heat, but neither seeks war

Of late, an Israeli F16 was shot down by Syria after destroying a "mobile trailer" that is alleged to have launched an Iranian drone into Israel's airspace.

On Saturday, Syria's state television, citing an unnamed Syrian military official, reported that air defense systems had struck at least one intruding Israeli F-16 fighter aircraft.

On Saturday, an Iranian drone which invaded Israeli airspace was shot down by Israeli fighter jets.

On the other hand, Syria appeared to chalk up the downing of the F-16 as a win. Syria represents Iran's first significant military success overseas in recent years.

Tehran denied any involvement in the drone penetration claim made by Israel. For Israel, this means a future in which not only Hamas and Hezbollah but Iran breathes down its neck.

Let Rohingya return home when conditions are right
The military's version of events was contradicted by accounts given to Reuters by Rakhine Buddhist and Rohingya Muslim witnesses. Myanmar denies ethnic cleansing, and says its security forces mounted legitimate counter-insurgency clearance operations.

Israel says Hezbollah is using its footprint in Syria to assemble Iranian-supplied missiles that it can fire at targets over the Israeli border.

Israel released footage of the moment its forces downed the drone, but the deputy commander of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Brigadier General Hossein Salami declined to confirm the report. "Benjamin Netanyahu was in the opposition when the Israeli government attacked southern Lebanon and lost to Hezbollah in 2006, and he fears another escalation in which Hezbollah is substantially stronger after the experience it's gained on the Syrian battlefield", Blumenthal told RT.

Zeev Elkin, a Russian-speaking Israeli cabinet minister who serves as Netanyahu's interpreter in the talks with Putin, defended the coordination mechanism on Tuesday as granting Israel "freedom of action in the skies above Lebanon and Syria". "Israel holds Iran and its Syrian host responsible for today's aggression". I, too, am concerned that too many questions are deliberately left unanswered by the media, like "Why do we feel obliged to help rebels maintain control over Syrian oil fields stolen from the Syrians by rebels (once called ISIS) and drop bombs killing 100 Syrian troops who killed no one?" Turkey's president is threatening to expand the offensive east, toward the town of Manbij, where USA troops maintain bases, while US officials accuse Turkey of hampering the fight against IS with its Afrin operation.

"I reiterated with him [Russian President Vladimir Putin] our obligation and the right to defend ourselves against attacks from the Syrian territory".

Whatever the differences in goals and tactics of the imperialist and reactionary militaries intervening against Syria's people - which include the US, its European NATO imperialist allies, Turkey, Israel and various reactionary sectarian militias - the people of Syria have the right to fight and to make their own alliances to preserve their independence and national sovereignty against any and all of these forces.

Since then, the armed forces waged the four-phase operation of "Martyr's Right", killing hundreds of terrorists. The army also said that 30 suspected terrorists were arrested.

"They, and we, know what we hit and it will take them some time to digest, understand, and ask how Israel knew how to hit those sites", Katz later told Army Radio. It was the most serious flare-up between the neighbors since fighting began in Syria in 2011.

The U.S. policy in Syria has always been vague and often inconsistent.

The U.S. military presence in Syria is nearly exclusively located in the territory known as the Democratic Federation of Northern Syria, which was established by the Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) and its allies. Both Turkey and Iran are anxious due to their Kurdish minorities, which have argued for independence in decades past.

Israel launched a second large-scale attack, striking 12 targets inside Syria, including four Iranian installations.

Brigadier General Hossein Salami on February 10 warned that the guards could unleash "hell" on Israel, and destroy all US bases in the region.

Israeli warplane was shot down with Syrian missile, Army says
The pilots are now hospitalized and it's unclear at the time of this writing what led to the downing of the IAF plane. Pentagon spokesman Adrian Rankine-Galloway said the United States fully supports Israel's right to defend itself.

The drone was reportedly derived from the US drone that Iran captured in 2011.
