No survivors as Russian passenger plane crashes with 71 people on board

"Presumably, the plane crashed near the village of Argunovo, and there were no chances to survive for the crew and passengers", the agency interlocutor said.

All 71 people aboard a Saratov Airlines plane died when the plane crashed southeast of Moscow on Sunday, Russian state news agency Tass reported.

It's understood it had 65 passengers on board, along with six crew members, and was flying to the city of Orsk.

The Tass news agency says the plane fragments were found in the Ramenskoye area about 40 kilometers (25 miles) from the airport.

President Vladimir Putin has offered his condolences to the families of the passengers and crew present in the plane.

Two bodies have been found, according to an official at the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry.

Russian transport minister Maxim Sokolov confirmed that there were no survivors.

Russian media outlets were heavily reporting the event.

Russia's investigative committee said all possible causes are being considered. The source added that there were no extreme weather conditions in the Moscow region at that time.

The aircraft was heading for Orsk, a city close to the Russia-Kazakhstan border.

Flightradar24, which tracks commercial airfare, reported that the plane was falling 22,000 feet per minute when it sent its last signal. Saratov Airlines has been controlled by entrepreneur Arkady Evstafiev since Aeroflot PJSC sold its stake in the carrier in 2011, according to Kommersant daily.

It was unclear if there were any casualties among people on the ground at the crash site.

The plane's wreckage lies in Stepanovskoye village, about 40km from where it took off.

The flight was being operated by Saratov airlines.

TV images of the crash site showed wreckage of the plane, including at least one engine, lying in fields covered with thick snow.
