Man City hail Aguero after four goal haul

Man City hail Aguero after four goal haul

With City thus in complete and utter control of the game it became hard for Leicester to muster any sort of comeback, mainly due to the home side's remarkable ability to keep the ball.

The Argentine converted De Bruyne's teasing cross in the 48th minute and collected another pass from the Belgian to fire through Kasper Schmeichel's attempted save. De Bruyne forced a smart save at his near post from Schmeichel, before Sterling rounded the Danish goalkeeper, only to see his shot from a narrow angle blocked by Aleksandar Dragovic.

The Denmark global should have done much better with Aguero's strike for the third City goal, and then the Leicester stopper presented the ball straight to the Argentine forward for the fourth to round off a thoroughly rotten day for the 31-year-old.

The Foxes responded by bringing on Mahrez, and former City striker Kelechi Iheanacho to try and change the tempo of the game, but in truth the game was already long beyond Leicester.

Even with the five-man back line, not one of Leicester's three centre backs was able to adjust their body position enough to step back and intercept De Bruyne's cross as it flashed behind them with just a couple of minutes of the game gone.

Then, at the death, Aguero got his fourth and City's fifth of the game, via an outstanding strike from outside the box.

Chelsea have been told how much they will be needing to fork out in order to land Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez. He came off the bench in the second half against City. The great players buy themselves time, the game looks like it stands still when they've got the ball and De Bruyne has that capacity.

Guardiola outlined that David Silva's absence due to the premature birth of his son and injuries to Fabian Delph and Ben Foden restricted his chances to leave De Bruyne out. Trying to play the ball out from the back, he mis-kicked and presented the ball to Aguero who chipped over the stranded stopper to net a hat-trick.

In the end this was another routine victory for Manchester City, and another big step towards the league title.

Raheem Sterling had given City an early lead on Saturday but Leicester went into the break on level terms thanks to Jamie Vardy's equaliser.
