United States drone strikes kill 11militants in Pakistan, Afghanistan

The United States on Thursday designated three militants linked to Pakistan-based terror networks ás "global terrorists" and called on the Pakistani government to deny "sanctuary to these risky individuals and organizations".

According to Dawn report from Washington, the US Treasury, on Wednesday, placed Rahman Zeb Faqir Muhammad, Hizb Ullah Astam Khan and Dilawar Khan Nadir Khan on its blacklist of "Specially Designated Global Terrorists" for facilitating the terrorists.

He is the third Pakistan Taliban commander killed in a USA drone strike in Afghanistan during the last six months. The State Department had designated LeT as a "terrorist organisation" in December 2001. The Office of Foreign Assets Control designated Aminullah for providing material support to the Al-Qaeda, LeT and the Taliban in July 2009.

Ignore the stock market rollercoaster, the sell-off in bonds is what matters
At the same time, the US deficit is growing and would be bumped up even more by the Senate budget deal, if it passes Congress. Treasury yields fell from four-year highs on Monday as the selloff in equity markets sparked demand for low risk debt.

According to the USA officials, Rahman Zeb had been responsible for raising funds and materials for Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in the Gulf region and helped Shaykh Aminullah to travel to that region in 2014.

Rahman Zeb, it said, has been in charge of raising funds and materials for Lashkar-e-Taiba in the Gulf region, and helped Shaykh Aminullah travel to the Gulf in 2014.

USA officials allege that Shaykh Aminullah turned the Ganj madrassa, a boys school in Peshawar, into a training and recruiting base by Al-Qaeda, the Taliban and Lashkar-e-Taiba. "In early 2016, he coordinated funds transfers with a Pakistan-based LeT facilitator".

USA stocks ride the roller coaster; Asian, European markets bleed, too
Tokyo's Nikkei 225 rose 0.3 percent to 21,700.94 while South Korea's Kospi jumped 0.7 percent to 2,414.26. Numerous companies that led the market's gains over the past year have struggled badly in the last week.

Hizb Ullah served as a financial official of a Peshawar-based madrasa that was co-founded by Aminullah.

Also Thursday, missiles fired from US drone slammed into a vehicle in Afghanistan's eastern Paktia province, killing four militants, said Shah Mohammad Aryan, a spokesman for the provincial chief police.

"All property and interests in property of these persons subject to the United States jurisdiction are blocked, and USA persons are generally prohibited from engaging in transactions with them", the Treasury Department said.

Olympics: The drones on the opening ceremony broadcast? They weren't there
You might remember a similar spectacle at Lady Gaga's 2017 Super Bowl half-time show, but that only involved about 300 drones. As impressive as the drone performance might be , Intel isn't done.
