Cubs Signal Yu Darvish

Cubs Signal Yu Darvish

The Chicago Cubs have agreed to sign Yu Darvish to a six-year, $126 million contract.

The right-hander made 31 starts previous year between the Rangers and Dodgers, pitching to a 3.86 ERA with a near-identical 3.83 FIP. Darvish will also have a chance to make as much as $150 million through incentives.

Like numerous top free agents on the market this offseason, Darvish had yet to sign with a team with many clubs opting not to pay big money when competing for division titles and postseason spots is unlikely. The four-time All-Star is considered one of the premier pitchers remaining on the free agent market and his arrival will bolster Chicago's formidable starting rotation.

The Hamiltons finished ninth at Worlds, but don't let that fool you. "I'm really proud and honoured to be a part of this". Switzerland remains the only unbeaten team in the competition.

After almost an entire winter of speculation and reports connected Darvish with the Twins and several other clubs, the best available free agent starter chose to take his talents to the North side of Chicago.

Additionally, signing Darvish keeps him away from the Dodgers, who were reportedly the runner-up for his services, and the Brewers, an NL Central rival who were also pursuing the right-hander. The 31-year-old went 10-12 with a 3.86 ERA with both the Texas Rangers and Los Angeles Dodgers.

Yu Darvish will be chasing after a World Series title with the Chicago Cubs. Since undergoing surgery, Darvish has a record of 17-17, with a 3.64 ERA, in 287 innings pitched, and 341 strikeouts in 48 starts. Regardless of how you order them, a staff including Hendricks, Darvish, Jon Lester, Jose Quintana and Tyler Chatwood ranks among the best in the National League.

Bristol-Myers Squibb Revenue Fueled By Eliquis -- Earnings Review
It is positive, as 62 investors sold BMY shares while 519 reduced holdings. 78 funds opened positions while 188 raised stakes. Bristol-Myers Squibb isn't my favorite pharma stock, but I think it should perform relatively well over the long run.

Arrieta, who will be 32 next month, completed his three-year contract at the end of the 2017 season. In two World Series starts for the Dodgers, Davish gave up eight earned runs over 3.2 innings. Late in the 2017 season he was very good, compiling an ERA of 1.69 with close to 40 more strikeouts than walks in his 11 starts between July and August.

The Yankees surfaced as a possible destination for Darvish, but considering ownership's mandate to stay under the $197 million luxury tax, they wouldn't have been able to give him the contract the Cubs did, at over $20 million per year.
