Trudeau Explains 'Peoplekind' Comments: 'I Made a Dumb Joke'

Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn (R-TX) took aim at Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Twitter late Wednesday after Trudeau again said Canada would walk away from a new NAFTA if it was a bad deal.

His excuse that his remark was just a "dumb joke" comes after he interrupted a woman's question during a town hall Friday to tell her that she should say "peoplekind" instead of "mankind".

The comments went viral on social media and was soon picked up by traditional media outlets as well, with critics accusing Trudeau of engaging in unnecessary political correctness. He responded saying "WE like to say 'peoplekind, ' not necessarily mankind, it's more inclusive".

"One of your most infamous Chicagoans, Al Capone, who was as effective an importer of Canadian goods into the anyone once pointed out he didn't even know what street Canada was on".
