Ton-up Maxwell routs England in second T20I

The rest of the Australian batting was dismal to say the least.

Maxwell blasted 103no off just 58 deliveries, including 10 fours and four sixes, to spearhead the chase of the tourists' 9-155. "Maxwell played very well and took the game away from us", admitted England captain Eoin Morgan. Maxwell caught Jos Buttler for just five off Marcus Stoinis before Agar took his second caught and bowled wicket as Sam Billings departed for ten.

Chasing 156 to win, Australia were dealt a massive blow on the second ball of their innings as stand-in captain David Warner was caught by Hales at deep square leg off the bowling of David Willey for four runs. Maxwell's hat-trick ball was wide of the leg-stump line - he would have been just the seventh man to have a T20 global hat-trick. Only a last ball six from Chris Jordan slightly soured Tye's terrific performance but his overall efforts cemented his standing as one of Australia's premier quicks in the format.

Australia skipper David Warner won the toss and opted to field first with an aim to register their second consecutive victory in the tri-series. "For us to start the series the way we have has been outstanding".

Hales was the first of two caught-and-bowled wickets for Agar.

For Zampa, the axing comes as he was revealed as Essex's marquee signing for their T20 competition in the English summer. However, it was a stroll in the end for the home side as they have now won two games in the tri-series having beaten New Zealand in the opening game.

"The energy and consistency of how well they bowled at the start was definitely a step up".

Alex Carey played a key part in Maxwell's ton.

England's bold batting order continued rollicking in similar fashion to their explosive deeds in the recent ODI series, which they convincingly triumphed 4-1.

Both the batsmen were dismissed by him and David Willey was also stumped as he picked 3 wickets for just 10 runs in his two overs.

Willey, who was promoted to open the innings in Canberra but drops back down to the middle order for the Hobart clash, hit five straight sixes in taking 34 runs off Test spinner Nathan Lyon's first over.

David Willey removed David Warner (4), Chris Lynn (0) and Travis Head (6) before the hosts surpassed their target of 156 with nine balls to spare, and Morgan felt England's performance after being sent in to bat first left them in a hard spot.

Rashid then thought he had Maxwell pouched safely in the deep by Roy but TV umpire Chris Brown disagreed and the all-rounder went on to seal back-to-back wins for the hosts with his fourth six, a tally he added to 10 fours.

Second T20I Australia v England, Blundstone Arena, February 7.

After being contentiously omitted from Australia's team for the one-day worldwide series which England won 4-1, Maxwell re-emphasized his all-round value in the shortest format with his second consecutive match-winning performance.

Knicks Trade Willy Hernangomez to Charlotte Hornets for Picks
The only problem for Charlotte is how will they find minutes for him in an already crowded frontcourt? Just a bad move. Willy Hernangomez is a solid young player with good potential and definitely won't hurt the Hornets' salary cap.
