Russian MoD Requests Turkey's Assistance in Obtaining Debris of Downed Su-25

The body of Major Filipov, the Su-25 pilot shot down in Syria who then blew himself up with a grenade rather than be killed by militants, has been recovered and returned to Russian Federation, the Defense Ministry said.

"The pilot, Major Roman Filipov, who died heroically in Syria on February 3 has been brought back to Russia by the Russian military intelligence service in collaboration with our Turkish colleagues", the ministry said in a statement.
