The HTC U12, the maker's next flagship, has just surfaced at a Taiwan 5G industry event showing off its LTE+ prowess.

The pictures show the device's top and bottom bezels were covered, as well as its back, in order to hide specific details about the smartphone. It's very hard to say anything about the design just by taking a look at the front. Similar to the HTC EYE that the company unveiled last month, it features an 18:9 aspect ratio.

As per Taiwanese publication Sogi, HTC said the new flagship phone will be announced sometime this year. The company refrained from revealing the name of the phone.

While HTC did not leak a word about the handset per se, it did however mention that the particular handset is capable of delivering download speeds of 809.58 Mbps, close to 1Gbps. The full specs are still unknown and it is worth pointing out that the Snapdragon 835 platform with X16 LTE can support gigabit speeds with LAA.

The company's officials have not made any official statement about the upcoming smartphone, so it's better to take this information which a pinch of salt.
