YouTube's live TV service expands to Apple TV, Roku devices

Launched less than a year ago, YouTube TV is already estimated to have in the region of 300,000 subscribers.

Google back in 2017 showcased and released its much lighter YouTube Go app in India, and the response they got was phenomenal. The app also features more mobile data controls than the standard YouTube app. (Disclosure: CBS is the parent company of CNET and Showtime.) Initially restricted to a handful of cities, YouTube TV is now available in more than 80 markets nationwide, covering 80 percent of the USA population.

YouTube TV offers quite a bit of content for those looking to cut the cord.

Another praiseworthy feature of YouTube Go is that the users can share saved videos with anybody without using any data.

The launch of YouTube TV on both platforms means that Roku and Apple TV users now have access to yet another alternative to traditional cable TV.

The app was first unveiled in a banner ad on the Apple TV with a coming soon logo.

The 9.4 MB YouTube Go app is a lighter version of YouTube which works on all Android devices with a base version of Jellybean 4.1. In a tweet to all Apple TV owners, the official YouTube TV account disclosed information that its app is now available on tvOS devices. The subscription costs about $35 a month and it will give you access to a range of television channels including CW, USA, Disney, ABC, CBS, Fox and most popular television channels that you would expect from their service.

Existing YouTube TV users can move towards the tvOS App Store to download the app on a free basis. Since then, the company brought the app to 14 additional countries, including Indonesia, Nigeria and Thailand, and this week announced that YouTube Go is available in over 130 countries around the globe.

"For the Tuesday night State of the Union, more partners used YouTube to live stream the address than ever before, generating 5 million live views, and just yesterday we announced a partnership with Major League Soccer's LA Football Club".

Younger users are charged $9.99 or $14.99 for Tinder Plus while those 30 and over are charged $19.99, NBC News reported . Tinder defended its service model by claiming that younger people are "more budget constrained".
