Supporters launch Obasanjo's Coalition Movement without him

A former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, stormed the Ogun State Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in Oke Ilewo area of Abeokuta, at exactly 12.44pm to inaugurate his much-touted Coalition for Nigeria Movement.

The move may not be unconnected to the call by former President Olusegun Obasanjo's charge on the need for a Coalition for Nigeria.

A South Africa-based Nigerian pastor, Prophet Samuel Akinbodun, has warned President Muhammadu Buhari not to contest for a second term.

Prior to commencement of the event, insinuations became rife that Oyinlola, who chaired the launch, would throw in the towel at NIMC.

"I think that what he (Obasanjo) has done is to rouse us from our slumber to the reality of what is happening to Nigerians and for us to take charge and take action; are there no other leaders looking on at things going wrong in this country?"

The former President noted that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were incapable of repositioning Nigeria.

When asked whether he had resigned his membership of the APC, Oyinlola said the issue did not arise since CNM was a movement and not yet a political party.

Obasanjo had recommended the coalition as solution to the leadership crisis in Nigeria.

It was not clear what Trump hoped to convey with his "team" comment or how Rosenstein might have interpreted it. The question came right before Rosenstein was set to testify in front of the House Judiciary Committee.

TheCable had reported that the ex-president would register as a member of the movement.

In his own remark the former Governor of Cross River State, Donald Duke said that we don't have a political party in the country but platforms making people crisscross from one platform to the other seeking for office.

Obasanjo when delivering his speech at the press center, Iwe Iroyin Oke Ilewo Abeokuta said the goal of the movement is to give special attention and space to youths and women who in most cases have been victims and underlings. This is why we find it distasteful that an impostor coalition is using our identity to malign fellow Nigerians on the divisive concepts of ethnicity and geo-political differences.

He said that the movement would provide equal platform for all Nigerians, especially women and youths.
