Raila Odinga Kenya Inauguration: Tag's Opposition Resistance Movement a Criminal Group

Kenya's Communication Authority shut down NTV, Citizen TV and KTN as thousands of opposition supporters gathered in Nairobi to watch their leader, Raila Odinga, swear himself in as "people's president" as part of a campaign of defiance against the conduct and results of last year's election. The first arrest was reported as the government launched an investigation into the event's "conspirators".

But the Interior Ministry said it was a "serious breach of security".

Kenyatta was inaugurated in November, and Kenya Attorney-General Githu Muigai warned that an opposition group swearing in a president who's not officially been declared the victor is high treason - an offense that can result in death.

Odinga, whose supporters say he is Kenya's legitimate leader and Kenyatta's election was neither free nor fair, took a symbolic presidential oath at the ceremony.

Police spokesman Charles Owino confirmed that a stun grenade was hurled at Mr Musyoka's home in the leafy Karen suburbs and two shots were fired from a rifle.

"The motive was clearly political", Musyoka said, describing the 1 a.m. blast as "shocking".

No-one was hurt in the incident.

Kenyatta was joined at the meeting by his deputy, William Ruto, Interior Secretary Fred Matiang'i, Information Secretary Joseph Mucheru, and the Attorney General Githu Muigai.
