Meryl Streep to Star in

Meryl Streep has been cast in the Emmy-winning HBO series, the network said on Wednesday, joining Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon as television continues to attract major stars.

The triple Oscar victor will star opposite Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman in the second edition of a show that won plaudits for tackling domestic violence at a time when U.S. society is increasingly focused on its treatment of women. Previous reports emerged suggesting leading ladies Witherspoon and Kidman will take home £702,260 pay cheques for every episode they film in season two, and Streep is not far behind, with sources claiming she is due to earn £562,000 per episode.

It will be based on a short story by Liane Moriarty, the author who wrote the Big Little Lies novel that the first season was adapted from.

Suresh Raina back in India's T20I squad for South Africa series
Middle-order batsman Suresh Raina has been named in the Indian squad for the three-match T20I series against South Africa. Also returning to the squad are allrounder Axar Patel and Mumbai fast bowler Shardul Thakur.

Based on Liane Moriarty's bestselling novel, it was initially broadcast as a miniseries, and was not meant to run beyond seven episodes shown at the start of 2017. "Monterey better watch out!" she captioned a photo of herself and Streep smiling for the camera.

In Big Little Lies, Streep's character comes to the show's beachside California town "searching for answers" following the death of her son, Perry, played by Alexander Skarsgard. Andrea Arnold will direct all seven episodes.

Three-time Oscar victor Streep just broke her own Oscar nom record with her 21st nomination for her role as Washington Post publisher Katherine Graham in The Post.

It's set in 1971 and is about her decision to have faith in her editor Ben Bradlee (Hanks) and publish a classified dossier on the escalating American involvement in the Vietnam conflict.

A few weeks after Kidman's email, Streep agreed to join the show and the news was announced earlier this week.
