DOJ prolonged surveillance of Trump marketing campaign adviser over Steele file findings

Rangappa noted that the surveillance of Page began in September of 2016 so the FISA warrant had already been extended at least once by the time Rosenstein began overseeing the Russian Federation investigation in March of 2017.

The memo in question was authored by Rep. Devin Nunes' (R-CA) staffers, and it reportedly contains classified information about the conduct of senior Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation officials, that allegedly proves Republicans' claims of the Justice Department's bias against President Donald Trump.

Rosenstein approved the continued surveillance of a Trump associate past year, according to a report in the New York Times on Monday that once again thrust the former U.S. Attorney for Maryland into the spotlight.

Paris Floods Shut Down Part of Louvre, Other Attractions
Paris Police previously said the Seine was forecast to reach 5.95 meters (nearly 20 feet) overnight from Sunday into Monday. Downstream of the French capital, the Seine is still rising, and levels are higher than in 2016.

That is one of the revelations in a memo compiled by House Intelligence Committee staffers that is set to be released within weeks, according to "three people familiar with it" who spoke to the Times. But the reference to Rosenstein's actions in the memo - a much-disputed document that paints the investigation into Russian election meddling as tainted from the start - indicates that Republicans may be moving to seize on his role as they seek to undermine the inquiry.

Justice Department officials, the memo reportedly says, weren't clear enough when applying for the warrant that their information came, in part, from the Steele dossier. Trump would have five days to try to block their effort, potentially setting up a high-stakes standoff between the president and his Justice Department, which opposes its immediate release. Instead, he ordered Mueller to be fired, then backed down after the White House counsel refused to carry out the order, The New York Times reported last week.

It has also been reported that the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Justice Department obtained a FISA warrant against Page in 2014.

The White House has backed releasing the memo public.

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein has long topped the list of Justice Department officials whom President Trump accuses of being responsible for the prolonged probe into his campaign's possible ties with Russian Federation during the 2016 election campaign.

Russian agents tried to recruit Page to spy on the US, a 2013 probe revealed, which Page has said he rebuffed.

The multinational trade deal is set to go ahead after a year of renegotiations, following the US's withdrawal in early 2017. But many now believe that alongside the strong U.S. economic rally the dollar is set for recovery in 2018.

Reuters could not contact Carter Page for comment. CNN also reports that Trump has Rosenstein "in his crosshairs" in a story based on four anonymous sources.
