Action Express win record-breaking Rolex 24 for the third time

Action Express win record-breaking Rolex 24 for the third time

The team of Ryan Briscoe, Richard Westbrook and Scott Dixon won and defeated its sister auto, which was the defending class champion.

It's the fourth podium finish in 12 Rolex starts for Allmendinger, who won the race overall in 2012 driving a prototype.

Fellow New Zealander Earl Bamber finished 17th overall, sixth in the GTLM class, nine laps behind Dixon. The auto was running third before it headed to the garage.

That's what the Rolex 24 is all about.

The Action Express cars both encountered overheating problems in the closing stages and had to back off, allowed the third-placed CORE autosport Oreca to come back from a deficit of six laps on the leaders to finish only 90 seconds behind. "It would be misleading if I said we have the same chance as Cadillac and Acura, because we don't".

Only Senna, nephew of the late F1 champion Ayrton Senna, has experience in the Rolex, having made his first appearance in the 24-hour endurance previous year.

The longtime IndyCar driver made headlines last fall with the announcement he was switching to sports auto racing to join the new Acura Team Penske, along with Ricky Taylor.

Wayne Taylor Racing's Renger van der Zande captured the Rolex 24 At Daytona Motul Pole Award over Acura Team Penske and Helio Castroneves on the final lap of the 15-minute qualifying session Thursday at Daytona International Speedway.

"The race has been unbelievable", Penske said.

Scott Pruett completed the final race of his 50-year career. He carried his weight with his Lexus team behind the wheel, but the auto finished ninth in the GTD class. Garcia and Jacobs live close enough that they can go home for a few hours of quiet rest during the race, and then return for its conclusion.

Continental, the official tire supplier to the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar series' Prototype category, claims that these failures are a result of teams not working within manufacturer parameters.

"Based on the issues we had throughout the night and the early morning part of the race, and multiple ways of trying to fix it with no positive results, we had to retire the auto with nothing to gain by keeping the drivers and the vehicle out there while we had everything to lose", team manager Travis Houge said.

Possibly, the number of steps, calories burned, heart rate, BMI, and maybe the location of some secret United States army bases. The heatmap also appears to highlight RAF Mount Pleasant in the Falkland Islands and a base used by French soliders in Niger.

"Understanding the auto is hard because even though it's a race vehicle it's still a completely different system", Castroneves said. The team of Nasr, Eric Curran, Mike Conway and Stuart Middleton finished second as the team and Cadillac went 1-2 overall. Fittipaldi is being replaced by Albuquerque as the full-time driver and will compete in only the four endurance races on the schedule this year. Albuquerque and Barbosa also have class victories on their racing résumés.

Despite having a hard debut race for the program, Cindric remains optimistic for the year ahead and proud of the effort the team put in.

Penske's cars, on the other hand, did. He spent much of the prerace in his garage stall before coming to the auto - most drivers remain by the vehicle after driver introductions - just before drivers had to get in.

Penske has vowed to watch the entire 24-hour race from the pit stand. The Ganassi organization is seeking its 200th victory in major auto racing.

"Everybody just wants to win". "I think as a young driver..."

"I think it's going to be in a week or two it's going to hit, especially as we look towards going to the test at Sebring and the race at Sebring", Pruett said.
