The Mystery Surrounding Agni 5's Range

India conducted a successful trial of an Agni-V intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) which was designed with China in mind, according to the Times of India. The test was "a major boost to country's defence capabilities", the ministry said.

India successfully test-fired the Agni-V ICBM off the Odisha coast on Thursday January 18, 2018. All objectives were fully met.

The Press Trust of India said quoting an official from the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO), which is responsible for developing Indian missiles that the surface-to-surface Agni-5 was sacked from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) in Abdul Kalam Island at around 9.30 AM.

The test was the new weapon's final operational configuration, bringing it one step closer to being a deployable warhead in India's land-based ballistic missiles arsenal.
