PS4 Japan Opens Beta Sing-ups, Firmware 5.50 Testing Begins

Registration for the new beta test is now open to everyone, although there are some prerequisites to participation. For your troubles, you can be part of a select few that get to test out the new features and improvements on the PS4 system. Should any errors occur with the new update at any time, beta testers can return to the previous firmware version.

In a post over on the PlayStation Blog, Sony merely announces the incoming update and the chance for prospective testers to state their interest in the beta, but aside from that, it doesn't divulge a whole lot of information. Users must be 18 years plus, and be a PlayStation Plus/PlayStation Now subscriber to apply.

"And thanks to everyone who helped out in the previous beta trial - your feedback is always valued and we hope to see you online again for this one".

To register, you'll need a PS4 system, be connected to the internet and be the master account holder.
