Mercedes-AMG CLS53 revealed

Mercedes-AMG CLS53 revealed

The key is a powerful turbocharging system that includes an electric compressor providing nearly instantaneous boost, and then a conventional exhaust-driven turbo providing boost once spooled up. Mercedes says that this drivetrain will be extremely smooth and without lag thanks to the 48V electrical system that will pave the way for further hybridization.

Peak power of the system is a V-8-like 429 horsepower and 384 pound-feet of torque, with efficiency around 20 percent lower than a V-8.

Also helping aid off-the-line response is the EQ Boost electric motor-alternator. The EQ Boost starter-alternator also acts as a kind of mild-hybrid unit for the vehicles, motivating the auto during throttle-off cruising and allowing the engine to shut down and restart nearly imperceptibly, according to Mercedes. The torque megaboost helps deliver the strong, quick throttle response that's AMG's hallmark. Meanwhile, EQ Boost will ease the burden on the gas engine to allow for extra fuel economy along with the added power. Under braking, the motor-generator recovers energy to charge up a battery for later use.

Changes to Ryanair's baggage system come into place tomorrow
In case you haven't seen any of the Ryanair reminders in recent weeks and months, the main details of the new policy can be seen below.

All three Mercedes-AMG 53 models come with four-wheel drive as standard, along with Mercedes" nine-speed "SPEEDSHIFT TCT' gearbox. Top speed is limited to 250 km/h for all models. The multi-chamber air suspension with particularly sporty spring/damper set-up and continuously adjustable damping ADS+ (Adaptive Damping System) combines outstanding driving dynamics with high ride comfort. All three have distinguishing features, such as twin-blade elements in the grille, and an "A-wing" design to the front bumper, along with a unique split 5-spoke wheel design.

To distinguish it from the recently released standard model, the CLS 53 comes with AMG styling and new features, such as an AMG Performance steering wheel and a more dynamic setup for improved feel.

Mercedes-AMG says to expect the CLS53, E53 Coupe and E53 Cabriolet to go on sale in the USA later in 2018. Inside all the vehicles is the "glass cockpit" we've seen in so many other Mercedes-Benz vehicles, with two 12.3-inch LCD displays behind a single wide-screen sheet of glass. As these are fully customisable, the driver can choose what combination of information to show.

Sales of the 53 series will commence in late 2018.

Steering wheels have touch-sensitive control buttons that respond to swipe gestures for controlling the infotainment system. The model features copper-coloured trim throughout its interior, plus black Nappa leather, 64-colour ambient lighting, Mercedes" "Memory and Mirror' package and the inclusion of a dashboard clock made by Swiss watch manufacturer IWC.
