Lions to pick Patriots' Patricia as coach

If the Detroit Lions are holding out hope of hiring New England Patriots defensive coordinator Matt Patricia as the franchise's next head coach, the team will be waiting at least another eight days.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Patricia is expected to be the next Lions coach, shunning overtures from the Giants to join his old friend Bob Quinn, the former Patriots personnel man turned Lions GM.

Patricia's counterpart in New England, offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, is also under consideration for head coaching jobs. Patricia can't agree to a deal with the Lions until the Patriots season is officially over.

Pro-Trump protesters cause havoc at Sadiq Khan's Fabian Society speech
Protestors shouting pro-Brexit and pro-Donald Trump slogans interrupted a speech by Sadiq Khan , heckling the London Mayor. They denied being far right or racist, despite suggesting to Brand that Khan's religion meant he could not be mayor.

Matt Patricia has been the favorite to succeed Jim Caldwell as Detroit Lions coach since long before Caldwell was sacked. Since then, the Patriots have gone to six AFC Championship games and won two Super Bowls, with a third Super Bowl still a possibility this season.

The next Lions head coach has been with the Patriots since 2004, where he actually started as an offensive assistant.

He endeared himself to Bill Belichick with his work ethic and intelligence early in Patriots tenure, spent time coaching on both sides of the ball, and eventually took over as defensive coordinator in 2012.

Ryan Says Entitlement Reform Not Likely This Year
He was not on the same page, however, with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, who rejected the idea just before Christmas. The president said overhauling social safety net programs is "going to have to be bipartisan".

If the Lions land Patricia, where do the Giants go from there?

"I think Matt is a great leader".

Although Patricia interviewed with the Lions last week, there was steady speculation that he would be more in play to lead the New York Giants, with whom he also interviewed.

Facebook's new move may hit ad takings in short term
Currently, News Feed has been created to share a mix of "public" content from brands along with posts by friends and family. Updates on ranking can be expected in the next few months so Facebook users will have more opportunities for interaction.

Come fall, Matt Patricia, with pencil tucked firmly behind his ear, is likely going to be patrolling some National Football League sideline as a head coach.
