Donald Trump did not say 's-hole' - Senator David Perdue

Donald Trump did not say 's-hole' - Senator David Perdue

In a tweet on Friday, Trump denied using the word "shithole", but Durbin insisted that the president had indeed said it. 'How many times do you want me to say that?'

A senator who attended the closed-door meeting during which the president reportedly insulted Haiti and various African nations with an expletive now says Trump never said the word.

"The gross misrepresentation was that language was used in there that was not used and also that the tone of that meeting was not contributory and not constructive", he said.

Sen. Dick Durbin, an Illinois Democrat, confirmed the Post's reporting, while Sen.

'Following comments by the President, I said my piece directly to him yesterday.

A winter weather advisory is in effect for the counties highlighted in purple through 10 o'clock Sunday morning. After many areas picked up a quick 1 to 2 inches of snow last night, we will stay day for the afternoon today.

"Sen. Durbin has misrepresented what happened in White House meetings before", Cotton opined.

Perdue, however, suggested Durbin mischaracterized what occurred. He called the media reports a "gross misrepresentation" of the what occurred in the meeting.

House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., told an audience in Milwaukee that Trump's comments were "very unfortunate, unhelpful" but quickly changed the topic to his own family's history of emigrating from Ireland.

'Multiple sources? There were six of us in the room. It's not the first time Senator Durbin has done it.

During several interviews on Sunday, Republican senators blasted Sen. "Whether you agree with him on the issues or not, he is one of the most honorable members of the Senate", Schumer wrote. "Basically is an operative word".

"In 2013, Senator Durbin also made the same accusation against a Republican leader in a meeting with President Obama, and said that ... he chewed out the president, it was so disrespectful to President Obama, we couldn't even have the meeting", Perdue said. "So statements at the eleventh hour are not going to distract me", he said, Politico reported.

Stephanopoulos repeatedly tried to have Perdue clarify what he meant and asked point-blank if Trump did not in fact say the crass word during the meeting.

Republican Senator Tom Cotton and Republican Representative Bob Goodlatte were both there, as was White House aide Stephen Miller, a proponent of severely limiting immigration. So perhaps we should be surprised by that'. But Democrats are using strong language to describe the president's comment, which is widely seen as reflective of a racist point of view. According to Politico, Durbin wrote in the post, "In a "negotiation" meeting with the president, one GOP House Leader told the president: 'I can not even stand to look at you'".
