Coast Guard has diverted ships which were at sea and ships are also sailing from Mumbai.

40 children from a Mumbai School had taken off in a boat on a pleasure trip when the ill-fated boat capsized when it was just 3.7 km off the coast.

The rescue workers also pulled out the bodies of the three students, identified as Sonal Surati, Janhavi Surati and Sanskriti Mayavanshi. And now the parents of KL Ponda school children are asking to book the boat operators for not following safety precautions.

Lake County flu clinic rescheduled due to weather
Flu season is raging across the country, and clinics are filling up with people suffering from fevers, chills, and other symptoms. Individuals who are not in high risk groups and who have mild illness typically do not need medical care or antiviral drugs.

The tragic incident took place 2 nautical miles from the sea-shore in Dahanu.

Three persons, including the owner of the boat, were arrested by the Palghar police late last evening.

President Ram Nath Kovind has expressed grief over the incident and tweeted: "Anguished to hear of the boat carrying schoolchildren capsizing in Dahanu, Maharashtra".

He was not on the same page, however, with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, who rejected the idea just before Christmas. The president said overhauling social safety net programs is "going to have to be bipartisan".

35 students were accounted for on Saturday but the total number of students was not confirmed, an Indian Coast Guard spokesperson said.

The boat had been recently refurbished and hired out for joyrides in the seas, but it was not clear whether the student picknickers were given life-jackets or not, officials said. Local fishermen and agencies have rescued 32 children.

"On receiving the information, the Coast Guard Station at Dahanu immediately initiated search and rescue efforts whilst co-ordinating with local authorities".
