Pro-Trump protesters cause havoc at Sadiq Khan's Fabian Society speech

Protestors shouting pro-Brexit and pro-Donald Trump slogans interrupted a speech by Sadiq Khan, heckling the London Mayor.

The protesters are reportedly part of a newly formed group called the White Pendragons.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan on Saturday was beginning a speech on gender equality to the Fabian Society - a democratic socialist think tank - when right-wing protesters stood from the crowd and said they had arrived to "make a non-violent, peaceful citizen's arrest". That didn't pan out.

When Mr Khan resumed his speech after the protesters were escorted from the venue by police, he took a dig at the American president who recently described himself as a "very stable genius".

The incident occurred after Khan said the United States president "finally got the message" that he is "not welcome" in the UK after Trump announced he will not be visiting in February to open the new USA embassy as planned.

"Reason I canceled my trip to London is that I am not a big fan of the Obama Administration having sold perhaps the best located and finest embassy in London for "peanuts", only to build a new one in an off location for 1.2 billion dollars".

He then accused the Fabian Society of "subverting" the constitution.

They denied being far right or racist, despite suggesting to Brand that Khan's religion meant he could not be mayor.

He said his countrymen love and admire America and Americans but find Trump's policies polar opposite to the city's values, Khan said in a statement released on Twitter on Friday.
