Chicago Bears hire Mark Helfrich as offensive coordinator

New Bears head coach Matt Nagy appears to have all of his coordinator positions filled.

The Chicago Bears have hired former OR head coach Mark Helfrich as their offensive coordinator.

Helfrich became Oregon's head coach after spending four seasons as the school's offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach under Chip Kelly from 2009-12.

Helfrich began his coaching career as running backs coach at Southern Oregon in 1996 before playing and serving as offensive coordinator in Europe with the Vienna (Austria) Vikings in 1997.

Lu said countries should work to defuse tensions and promote dialogue, rather than isolating Pyongyang. Trump would not confirm whether he has spoken with Kim, saying only that he didn't want to comment.

Helfrich didn't call plays as Oregon's offensive coordinator and he won't in Chicago.

OR head coach Mark Helfrich, works the sidelines against Arizona State in an NCAA college football game Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016 in Eugene, Ore. In his first season at Oregon, Helfrich guided the Ducks to the national championship in the first-ever College Football Playoff, where they were defeated 42-20 by Ohio State. Nagy spent the past decade working under Andy Reid in Philadelphia and Kansas City and served as the Chiefs' offensive coordinator this past season.

He takes over a 5-11 team that missed the playoffs for the seventh straight season and hasn't finished above.500 since Lovie Smith got fired after going 10-6 in 2012.

McVay was hired in Los Angeles to get the best out of former No. 1 pick Jared Goff, just as Nagy was brought in to tap into the vast potential of Mitch Trubisky, the No. 2 overall pick in 2017.
