Seth Meyers Nailed His Golden Globes Monologue-By Giving Away the Mic

Somehow that joke also elicited an audible response from the audience, leading to Meyers' response: "Oh was that too mean?"

Before the show, he told Variety that he'd focusing more on Hollywood on Globes night, and said that he'd try to tread lightly and try to strike the right balance between amusing and respectful in terms of the gravity of the sexual harassment epidemic.

But he even called himself out for hosting and put hosts of future shows like the Oscars on notice by comparing himself to the "first dog they shot into outer-space". "It's 2018 and marijuana is finally allowed, and sexual harassment finally isn't", he added. That business was handled right up front in the opening speech from Seth Meyers who spent much of his monologue addressing all the scandals that have engulfed the entertainment world of late.

"They tried to get a woman to host the show which will be judged by some of the most powerful men in Hollywood and they were like 'hmm, well where is it?' They said it's in a hotel and long story short, I'm your host tonight", he added.
