Controversial book 'Fire and Fury' sells out in Austin

It depicts a chaotic White House, a president who was ill-prepared to win the office in 2016, and Trump aides who scorned his abilities.

Instead of halting publication of Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House, Wolff's publisher accelerated its sale to Friday, due to "unprecedented demand".

I authorized Zero access to White House (actually turned him down many times) for author of phony book!

As in the excerpts a day earlier, Wolff wrote of White House dysfunction and "screaming fights", sometimes in Trump's presence; of the president's night-time calls to "his billionaire friends" to complain of his staff's incompetence; and of the staff's own complaints, including from daughter Ivanka Trump and Kushner, her husband.

The author also said that in issuing a "cease and desist" letter via his lawyers, Mr Trump was helping both to sell copies of the book and also to prove the point of the book.

Although Khorana's exact date of birth is not known, the Nobel Prize website lists it as January 9, 1922. Four years later, he announced that he was able to function an artificial gene within a bacterial cell.

Those anecdotes show how unprepared Trump is for the presidency, and how he ignores or disregards advice and follows his instincts wherever they lead - even when he contradicts himself.

Wolff said he spoke to Mr Trump after his inauguration and "spent about three hours with the President over the course of the campaign in the White House, so my window into Donald Trump is pretty significant".

Press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders described "Fire and Fury" as "a book full of lies", "a complete fantasy" and "full of tabloid gossip". "I never spoke to him for book".

Mr Bannon had helped Mr Trump form a coalition of anti-establishment Republicans, blue-collar working class and economic nationalists that launched him to the White House, but Mr Trump had long ago grown frustrated that Mr Bannon seemed to be overstepping his role as a staffer.

"Fire and Fury" author Michael Wolff.

Wolff, whose trade is writing about big business and media, and most famously a book about Rupert Murdoch, is a man of whom few have a good word to say, a journalistic bruiser in designer suit and spectacles, considered by many to be ruthless, untrustworthy, possibly sociopathic, who is accused of often making up things to suit his own agenda.

"I'd like to associate myself with what the president had to say about Steve Bannon yesterday", he said mischievously on Thursday.

Mr Wolff claims Mr Bannon - who was sacked by Mr Trump in August - questioned Mr Trump's fitness for office.

"I intend to be here for the whole year", he said. The author is now the target of a cease and desist letter from Trump's lawyers over Wolff's new book.
