Google Sued Over Bias Against 'Conservative White Men'

Meanwhile, Google's HR department allegedly accused a conservative employee of "inciting violence" after he stated that he would teach traditional gender roles to his children.

The lawsuit is being filed by Dhillon Law Group, and former Google engineer David Gudeman is also a member of the suit.

Google did not immediately respond to International Business Times' request for comment.

Google spokesman Ty Sheppard previously told CNNMoney that the company has strong policies against workplace retaliation, harassment and discrimination. Damore and his lawyer offer a litany of other examples of bias, even suggesting Google frowns upon "traditional heterosexual monogamy".

Echoing Damore's initial blog post, the suit also accuses Google of "producing an ideological echo chamber" and "a protected, distorted bubble of groupthink" where political correctness was elevated over merit.

Some legal experts have said Damore faces an uphill battle suing Google.

Google has denied Damore's allegation that its hiring practices are illegal. In that missive, Damore criticized Google for pushing mentoring and diversity programs and for "alienating conservatives". In internal discussion boards, multiple employees said they supported firing the author, and some said they would not choose to work with him, according to postings viewed by Bloomberg News. Earlier this month, four women plaintiffs as part of a revised lawsuit, alleged that the company had asked for their prior salaries and had underpaid them compared to their male counterparts.

A class-action suit filed Monday in Santa Clara Superior Court in California alleges that Google's management "goes to extreme - and illegal - lengths to encourage hiring managers to take protected categories such as race and/or gender into consideration as determinative hiring factors, to the detriment of Caucasian and male employees and potential employees". The company is 69% male and 56% white, although Google does not report how many describe themselves as "conservative".
