Passerby Brittany Patterson told WDHN she saw officers surrounding Ulysses after the chase and said the boy appeared unconscious as she drove past the scene. Her post has been shared 80,000 times, with many expressing outrage over his condition.

Troy Police told WDHN that the charges against Wilkerson, obstructing governmental operations and resisting arrest, had not been dropped. On his Facebook page, Sadot Wilkerson has called for justice for his son using his son's moniker "FatDaddy".

For 17-year-old Ulysses Wilkerson, his Christmas Eve was spent handcuffed to a gurney inside the University of Alabama-Birmingham Hospital for wounds that left his face deformed.

The family of a Troy teen injured recently during an arrest has retained a Dothan law firm as well as a defense attorney known for representing parties in high-profile civil rights cases.

The Alabama State Bureau of Investigation says they are conducting an investigation into the force used by the Troy Police Department officers.

In order to protect the juvenile involved and the integrity of the investigation, no additional information will be released by SBI until this investigation is closed. All of those files have been given to Pike County District Attorney Tom Anderson, who told CNN he has yet to have a chance to look at them.
