Turkey signs deal to buy missiles from Russian Federation

Russia and Turkey support opposing sides in the Syrian war, but Erdogan and Russian President Vladimir Putin patched up relations that were badly damaged when Turkish jets shot down a Russian warplane near the Syrian border in November 2015.

Some NATO countries have expressed worries that the S-400 system is not compatible with the alliance's weapons systems.

"The system can be used independently without any external connection", it said.
