Church shootout kills 1 militant in Egypt's Helwan

The gunman had opened fire outside the church, wounding five security guards, and tried to storm the building when police shot him dead, the officials said. One attacker carrying explosives was reportedly shot and killed by security forces and another was arrested.

Gunmen killed at least nine people, including three police officers, in an attack on a Coptic Christian church south of Cairo yesterday, medical and security sources said. On Palm Sunday in April, terrorists staged an explosion in the main church of the city of Tanta, where about 30 people died.
