With Stories Everywhere, Snapchat Stories may be coming to the Web

Ever since Facebook and Instagram started ripping off features from Snapchat, the user engagement numbers for Snapchat have been plateauing. The web player would also prompt users to sign up for Snapchat, allowing the company to try to boost its user count.

Stories Everywhere would mark a dramatic change in strategy for Snapchat, which has long operated as a walled garden, limiting its content to its own application. And this will mark the first time that Snap will allow its users to widely distribute its content.

If Snap plays their cards right, they could very well have an edge once again.

Snap hired Rahul Chopra, former NewsCorp executive and he is now the CEO of Storyful. Thus, it is making up for it by redesigning the main app. This owes to many reasons including Facebook's capability of copying Snapchat's core feature offerings and launching them on more famous and widely-accessible platforms like Instagram.

It had previously partially shut down its operations and was dragged into a bankruptcy court by China Development Bank last month. The company is already undergoing a "robust" transformation to a business-business services company, Anil Ambani had said.

Snap may even allow other apps to access its feeds, which now include videos of breaking news, sports games, and more.

According to news platform Cheddar, which broke the story, Snap has hired former NewsCorp executive and CEO of social data analytics firm Storyful, Rahul Chopra, to head the "Stories Everywhere" project. The Cheddar report states that this move may give Snap Inc, Snapchat's parent company, a way to make money through content licensing. Multiple people can contribute to the same story. Despite snapchat stories lasting only 24 hours, it was only visible on Snapchat which meant you had control over who saw the story (he/she would have to be on your Snapchat profile).
