Former World Player of the Year Kaka Announces Retirement

It may have been widely expected that former AC Milan and Real Madrid playmaker Kaka would retire from football after the Brazilian played his final game for Orlando City recently, but until today the Ballon d'Or victor has failed to make an official announcement about his future.

"Very consciously I have come to the conclusion that it is time to end my career as a professional player".

"I needed time to think and take a very calm decision, very calm and very aware of what I will want for my professional life", said the 35-year-old Brazilian, speaking to Globo Esporte.
