Dodgers Shed Salary In Five-Player Trade With Braves

Dodgers Shed Salary In Five-Player Trade With Braves

The Atlanta Braves announced Saturday that they traded outfielder Matt Kemp to the Los Angeles Dodgers for a package consisting of first baseman Adrian Gonzalez, left-handed pitcher Scott Kazmir, right-hander Brandon McCarthy, infielder Charlie Culberson and cash considerations. Eating his salary would be nothing new for the Dodgers - they paid Carl Crawford $35 million to not play for them this year and most of 2016.

San Francisco selected Culberson in the first round (51st overall) of the 2007 First-Year Player Draft, and he made his major league debut in 2012 with the Giants. The Braves have already designated Gonzalez for assignment, and the Dodgers are expected to either trade or release Kemp.

Rahul Gandhi To Officially Take Over As Congress President Today
On Monday, senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said, "The entire country has lots of expectations from Rahul Gandhi . He said Sonia has retired as Congress president and not from politics.

All four of the Dodgers that were dealt will be missed, and we want to wish them the best of luck moving forward! He was usurped at first base by NL Rookie of the Year Cody Bellinger.

Like Gonzalez, he will make $21.5 million this season, but also is due $21.5 million in 2019. He is owed $15 million in 2018.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding date conflicts with FA Cup
The wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle has been announced for May 19 next year - and it clashes with the FA Cup final. Markle have regularly spent time there during the previous year ", a spokesman said in a statement.

The Dodgers have exceeded the collective-bargaining tax threshold - the so-called "luxury tax" - in each of the past five seasons, paying an estimated $148 million in tax on top of their annual MLB-high payrolls - including approximately $34 million for 2017 even though their payroll decreased for a third consecutive season. The 6-foot-0, 200-pound native of Rome, Ga., appeared in 10 games during the Dodgers' run through the postseason, hitting.500 (8-for-16) with three extra-base hits. They'll pay at least $10 million more in surtaxes, putting their total tax bill between $35-$40 million - this after paying $31.8 million previous year. This deal also has little to no impact on the Dodgers' 2018 aspirations, seeing as how Gonzalez and Kazmir were not really in the equation to begin with. "I'm excited about him, think there is an upside to him".
