GOLDSTEIN: Response to Trump move is about Jew hatred

GOLDSTEIN: Response to Trump move is about Jew hatred

Israel's prime minister says the Palestinians must "come to grips" with Jerusalem being Israel's capital.

Lebanese security forces fired tear gas and water cannons on Sunday at demonstrators near the U.S. embassy as they protested Washington's decision to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

The move sparked criticism from US allies in Europe, the Middle East and beyond, who said it was not helpful for peace. The Arab foreign ministers have urged world countries to recognise an independent Palestinian state on the territories occupied by Israel in 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

"We deplore his readiness to crown the Israeli military conquest of East Jerusalem and his indifference to Palestinian rights".

The US decision has no legal effect, the Arab ministers said in their final statement, adding that it undermines peace efforts, deepens tension, provokes anger and pushes the region into violence and instability. Four people in Gaza were killed.

Patriots Nearing Deal With Veteran Wideout Kenny Britt
The Boston Herald reports the Patriots consider WR Malcolm Mitchell (knee, injured reserve) unlikely to return this season. At 6-foot-3, 215 pounds, Britt caught nine touchdowns in just 12 games in 2010, his second season in the NFL.

There were indications that Sunday's stabbing at the Jerusalem bus station was motivated by Trump's move, although police did not officially confirm it. Comments on his profile called him a hero for allegedly carrying out the Jerusalem attack. "That is not the man who is going to lecture us".

Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said the guard sustained a serious wound to his upper body and the attacker was apprehended.

Palestinian youths clashed Sunday in the West Bank city of Bethlehem, hurling stones toward Israeli soldiers, who fired back with rubber bullets and tear gas.

In Beirut, the protestors set vehicles afire and waved Palestinian flags near the US Embassy.

Hundreds of thousands of Palestinian refugees live in Lebanon, including those who fled or were expelled from their homes after Israel's founding, as well as their descendants.

Meanwhile, Arab ministers met in Cairo on Saturday and urged the United States to reverse its decision. They acknowledged that Washington would most likely veto it.

Speaking on CNN, Guterres said he was pleased that Trump's son-in-law and adviser Jared Kushner had been meeting with Israelis and Palestinians on a new peace plan after years of stalemate in the process.

Palestinian Authority Foreign Minister Riyad Al-Malki called Trump's decision "illegal and illegitimate and null and void legally and politically", saying there would be no formal communication with U.S. officials.

Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah also called for a protest against the decision in the Hezbollah-controlled southern suburbs of Beirut on Monday.

"For those who want to say this is a bad idea, I'll tell you: Ask us five or 10 years from now if you still think it's a bad idea". In Paris, Netanyahu talked about his quiet but improving relations with Arab countries that look to Israel as an ally against Iran.
