Korea claims to be bastion of human rights in white paper

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) sets out the basic rights every human being in the world is entitled to, regardless of their race, colour, religion, sex, nationality or any other status. Universal human rights are often expressed and guaranteed by law, in the forms of treaties, customary global law, general principles and other sources of worldwide law.

"This much anticipated meeting comes at a key moment, as we celebrate Human Rights Day and reflect on the 35 anniversary of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms".

"If we let our commitment to uphold human rights drift - if we turn aside when they are abused - they will slowly shrivel and die".
