'Game of Thrones' Star Reveals When Season 8 Will Premiere

In a new interview with Variety, Sophie Turner discusses production for the final season, which is now filming. Sorry GAME OF THRONES fans, but you are going to have wait a little bit longer for next season.

Casey Bloys, president of the show's broadcaster HBO, told Entertainment Weekly the delay will try and help ensure the final season is the biggest yet.

That appears to be highly unlikely, as Turner said in a following comment that Game of Thrones is supposed to launch only in 2019. The show is such a monster to film, though, that 2019 is probably the better bet.

In a recent interview with Variety, Sophie Turner divulged the information regarding Game of Thrones that everyone has been looking for. However, she was quick to confirm that the series would actually be returning to HBO in 2019.

She also talked about her upcoming projects, including "X-Men: Dark Phoenix", in which she will reprise her role of Jean Grey.

This aligns with our previous reporting on the season 8 release date.

When Variety quizzed her about the production schedule, she added: "We started in October, so we're maybe like a tenth of the way through". Then I have a couple indie movies coming out.

"Yeah, I'm really excited". It'll be 2018 or 2019, they say, as if a year means nothing to people counting every second until a new episode.

"I feel this sense that everything is over Game of Thrones-wise", she said.
