Roger Goodell finally signs contract extension with NFL

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell signed a contract extension with the NFL, according to a press release, that news reports say could be worth as much as $200 million.

Prior to this new deal, Goodell was making in the neighborhood of $30 million a year.

"We also have expressed in those conversations our strong and unanimous belief that we should proceed to sign the agreement now, consistent with the unanimous May resolution and to avoid further controversy surrounding this issue".

He also has two mortgages against his Trump National Doral Miami resort and a loan against his tower in Chicago. Despite the global focus of Mueller's probe, only about $2,800 was spent on actual travel costs.

According to the report, the NFL's compensation committee sent a memorandum to all owners informing them of Goodell's extension.

Accordingly, this will advise the ownership that a binding contract extension has been signed by the Commissioner and by Arthur Blank, on behalf of the League entities.

The Compensation Committee received unanimous authorization from the owners in May 2017 to execute the contract.

Chilly and wet weather starts Wednesday
Along this front, we can expect to see locally heavy rainfall, with strong winds possible for Tuesday night into early Wednesday . By morning temperatures will settle a little below freezing, recovering into the mid to upper 40s during the afternoon.

The owners will all get together on December 13, a meeting which will likely end up shedding a bit more light on the details and on the process of extension. Goodell's new term runs through the 2013 football season. Sources had told ESPN in October that the debate over NFL player protests during the national anthem was one reason for the delay in completing the extension. But Cowboys owner Jerry Jones started working to sabotage the process in August, citing concerns over the league's long-term direction and the talks themselves.

CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora has confirmed that Goodell has been given a new deal by the NFL's Compensation Committee. At that time, Goodell's latest proposal was reportedly seeking around $50 million a year as well as lifetime use of a private jet and health insurance for his family.

Jones had been removed as a non-voting seventh member of the compensation committee after his threat of a lawsuit.
