Aaron Boone Reportedly Named Yankees Manager over Hensley Meulens

Aaron Boone will be named the Yankees' next manager, the New York Daily News reports.

Since retiring from baseball in 2010, Boone has been an analyst for ESPN, appearing on Monday Night Baseball, Baseball Tonight, and most recently Sunday Night Baseball.

ESPN's Buster Olney confirmed the hire.

Boone is also well known for being the brother of fellow big leaguer Bret Boone, son of former player and manager Bob Boone and grandson of former player Ray Boone.

The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal reported Meulens was the other finalist for the job. Boone told reporters after his interview that he's been preparing for this job "for 44 years".

We are shaken and concerned at this rare incident", it said the hospital in its statement. The other was "without any sign of life", says Max Hospital authorities in a statement.

Personally, if the Yankees were going to pick a manager with no experience, I would have preferred Carlos Beltran.

Boone hit the only home run during the final game at Cinergy Field in Cincinnati in September of 2002 off Dan Plesac a reliever for the Phillies. "There's a lot to consider and there's a lot of great information out there that is instilled into the game today".

As things stand, Aaron Boone will be the next manager of the New York Yankees.

Of course, Red Sox fans remember Boone for his iconic walk-off homer to send the Yankees to the World Series in 2003.

Still, the chances of the Yankees offering A-Rod their open manager job would be slim, considering the franchise's general manager, Brian Cashman, actually sought out the 42-year-old's advice about the vacant position, but not to see if the former slugger wanted the job, according to Newsday.

Cashman made his recommendation to owner Hal Steinbrenner and a contract still has to be worked out.

"Obviously, experience is very valuable and should be a check mark for somebody", Boone said.

"And I very much think that my job as manager would be to forge really strong relationships where these players understand that me and my staff are going to really care about them, that they're going to be able to trust us". "That's part of the game and Major League sports".

"I reached out to Alex a number of times, 'Hey, what do you got?' I looked for a lot of guidance from a lot of people that I have a lot of respect for, and Alex knows baseball as well as anybody" Cashman said. "I think that's something that many of us relish - the opportunity to have something on the line and a lot at stake is, I think, something that makes you want to go after it".

Boone said on November 17 that he believes his brief time with the Yankees will help him prepare for the challenges of managing in the NY spotlight.
