Xiaomi Redmi 5A: 5 unique features of Xiaomi's latest offering

Redmi 5A features a metallic matte finish in terms of design. Since it resides under the budget smartphone segment, the Redmi 5A doesn't sport fancy 2.5D glass on its 5-inch LCD display for scratch resistance. It is powered by 1.4GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 425 processor with 500MHz Adreno 308 GPU. However, this year, alongside the base model which includes 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, there is also a version that offers 3GB of RAM and 32GB of flash storage. Just like the Redmi 4A, the Redmi 5A also does not ship with a fingerprint scanner. For photography, the smartphone is equipped with a 13-megapixel rear camera with Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF) and a f/2.2 aperture. On the front, there is a 5-megapixel camera with a f/2.0 aperture. The Redmi 4A is backed by 3,120 mAh battery which provides for a usage of a day to 14 hours. The made "for" India aspect also stems from the fact that although the Redmi 5A launched in India shares much of the hardware specs with the Redmi 5A that's already available in China, the one that will sell (and will be made) in India will come with some India-specific nuggets likely to appeal to India's masses. However, what's new here is the operating system - it runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat-based MIUI 9, which is the latest version of Xiaomi's proprietary operating system.

The device comes with a microUSB port, GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, hotspot, Bluetooth v4.1 with A2DP, and LE support, a 3.5 mm headphone jack and dual nano-SIM slots for connectivity. Xiaomi says the MIUI 9 offers explosively fast launch times along with new features such as Smart Assistant and Universal Search. However, Xiaomi is offering an additional discount of Rs 1,000 for the first 1 million customers of the 2GB/16GB variant, bringing its price further down to Rs 4,999. Otherwise, the smartphone isn't too much of an upgrade over its popular budget predecessor, the Xiaomi Redmi 4A, which still retails in the country for Rs 5,999. The device is available in three colors: dark grey, gold and rose gold.

And Miami , which ascended to No. 2 in the committee's rankings last week, will fall after losing at Pittsburgh. Its detractors would use its two losses against it and throw Alabama into the mix as a more deserving team.

Xiaomi's Redmi 4A was launched for similar prices of Rs 5,999 and Rs 6,999. The company claims that it has sold over four million units of 4A within eight months of its release.
