Trump all but endorses GOP's Moore despite sex accusations

President Donald Trump on Tuesday directly addressed the sexual misconduct allegations against Alabama GOP Senate candidate Roy Moore, almost two weeks after the first accounts of Moore's alleged sexual predation were first reported by The Washington Post.

The president spoke to reporters at the White House before leaving for a Thanksgiving break at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida.

"We don't need a liberal person in there", Trump said.

Moore has been accused, on the record, by multiple women of sexual misconduct.

"He denies it. Look, he denies it", Trump said of Moore.

Press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters Monday that the President believes "the people of Alabama" have to decide Moore's fate.

He has denied the allegations.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and House Speaker Paul Ryan, both Republicans, have called on Moore to leave the race in light of the accusations.

"I don't want to speak for Al Franken", Trump said of the Minnesota Democratic senator who has apologized to a TV host and sportscaster who accused him of kissing and groping her without her consent.

The campaign contested Nelson's account of the dumpster's location in relation to the restaurant, and that the attack could have taken place in an unlit area when it is located near "a four-lane highway and had a wrap-around porch with lights all around it". "Forty years is a long time", Trump said, pointing to the amount of time that has passed since the alleged behavior. Trump was caught on tape in conversation with Access Hollywood boasting in graphic detail of sexually harassing women.

Trump himself ignored questions about whether he himself believes Moore's denials.

Her reason: Trump never admitted wrongdoing and Franken did.

Moore's camp has begun firing back at the media and one of the accusers.

The campaign quoted two former restaurant employees and a former customer who said they did not remember Nelson working there or Moore eating there.
