Meek Mill Granted New Bail Hearing

On Friday, the 47-year-old rapper wrote a New York Times op-ed to speak out further against Meek Mill's prison sentence, and the general problems with the criminal justice system in the U.S.

"It was a clerical error", explained Philadelphia courts spokesman Gabriel Roberts to Philly.com after the November 27 session before Common Pleas Court Judge Genece Brinkley was slated - and then scratched.

He described probation as a trap, saying jails could be shut down if "people on parole or probation [are treated] more fairly".

Earlier this week, Tacopina confirmed to Billboard that he was filing a motion to terminate his client's probation and was seeking a release from prison.

Jennifer Hudson Splits from Fiance David Otunga, Gets Protective Order Against Him
Fans of Hudson have been questioning her pending marital status for years due to her and Otunga's nine year engagement status. This statement, which Jennifer Hudson's representative told People , leaves out some the particulars of the protective order.

"For about a decade, (Mill's) been stalked by a system that considers the slightest infraction a justification for locking him back inside", the 21-time Grammy victor wrote.

"He has been on probation for basically his entire adult life".

On Nov. 7, Jay-Z stopped in the middle of his "4:44" concert tour in Dallas to protest Mill's arrest.

"We must fight for Meek and everyone else unjustly sent to prison", he wrote.

Bucs beat mistake-filled Dolphins 30-20
Fitzpatrick coolly moved the Buccaneers 58 yards on the ensuing drive, and Murray delivered what essentially was the victor . A 69-yard run by Damien Williams on Miami's second snap was also the longest ground gain for the Dolphins this season.

Jay-Z writes that Meek's case reminds him of his experiences growing up in Brooklyn in the '70s and '80s, where probation was a "land mine, with a random misstep bringing consequences greater than the crime".

Rapper Meek Mill has been granted a bail hearing on his probation violation appeal case.

"Taxpayers in Philadelphia, Meek Mill's hometown, will have to spend tens of thousands of dollars each year to keep him locked up, and I bet none of them would tell you his imprisonment is helping to keep them safer", Jay-Z wrote. "Black people are sent to prison for probation and parole violations at much higher rates than white people", Jay says. According to the New York Times, Brinkley cited two incidents that involved Mill, one being a scuffle at a St. Louis airport, and the other being a charge for reckless endangerment in New York City.

Mill said he was badly beaten by police when they arrested him in 2008 and used a bloodied mugshot of himself as the cover of his "DC4" mixtape.

Probation, which dates from English common law, was initially seen as a compassionate way for courts to grant freedom to people who pose little risk.
